The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) has made a significant seizure of illegal drugs in Perth.
On June 11, 2020, members of the Street Crime Unit, assisted by Lanark Detachment officers, executed a search warrant at a residence on Cockburn Street. One person was arrested at that location and another was arrested during a traffic stop in the area.
Police seized a quantity of suspected purple fentanyl, cannabis and cannabis resin, as well as over $5000 in Canadian currency and items associated with drug trafficking.
Chas e NAGLE, age 35 of Perth, Ontario has been charged with:
Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2)
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime - Criminal Code (CC) sec. 354(1)(a)
Possession for the purpose of distributing - Cannabis Act sec. 9(2)
This accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing by video before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on June 16, 2020.
Bradley CORDICK, age 26 of Drummond-North Elmsley Township, Ontario has been charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance under CDSA sec. 4(1).
This accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on September 14, 2020.
"This is a major development for our community, as purple fentanyl is an extremely dangerous drug", said Inspector Karuna Padiachi of the Lanark Detachment. "The OPP will continue to active ly investigate suspected drug dealing and work to ens ure the safety of all residents in Lanark County."
