New Leaf Link (NeLL) is making some exciting announcements! In addition to its current Day Program, NeLL is expanding its hours by offering a Before & After program.
As well, NeLL is offering transportation service.
Finally, for the first time, NeLL is opening its doors for those still attending high school to join us over the summer holidays. These new services will be a big support for busy families and caregivers who need more flexible program hours and transportation support to and from the program.
For over 15 years, New Leaf Link has been providing exemplary programming for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). NeLL encourages independent life skills, communication, exercise, social interaction and community involvement. Based in Harrowsmith, NeLL serves participants from Frontenac County and Kingston.
Thanks to funding from an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant, NeLL has extended its services to include a Before Program starting at 8am, which seamlessly leads into the 9:30am. to 2:30pm day program. The After Program runs from 2:3pm to 5pm, providing additional opportunities for participants to explore interests, socialize, stay active, and enjoy healthy snacks. These programs are offered Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, and Thursdays year -round. Participants are welcome to attend any one, two, or all three of NeLL’s programs.
New Transportation Services provide transportation support to participants going to and from NeLL programs. They are a result of a partnership with Frontenac Transportation Services who graciously support NeLL by arranging volunteer drivers. The fees for participants are very reasonable.
“We are so excited to remove barriers to potential participants,” said Brandy Sheahan, Developmental Program Manager at NeLL. “We hope more adults with IDDs will join us in an environment that encourages learning, exploring, and discovering new interests, all while socializing with friends. Our motto is ‘Grow. Connect. Belong.’ as our program has always been a place where participants feel valued, engaged, and empowered.
These new and affordable programs will continue to make that possible.” If you are a high school student looking for something fun and engaging to do during the summer holidays, NeLL is excited to invite students who are still in high school to attend any and all of our programs during the months of July and August. This summer participants will explore new countries, spend time outdoors and tend to our garden. NeLL’s talented instructors will guide participants in dancing, graphic arts, drama, science experiments, cooking, exercising and plenty of music! Summer enrollment will be limited so those interested are encouraged to contact NeLL soon to reserve their spot.
NeLL is always welcoming volunteers who are interested in making a positive impact in the community, including high school students who need to complete volunteer hours. Volunteers gain hands-on experience while supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
These expanded services are available now. For more information, please contact Brandy Sheahan at
