The Frontenac Fury got off to a hot start at the Cubtown tournament last Thursdan, and ended going undefeated in winning the tournament.

Their first game was against the Cornwall Typhoons, which the Fury won 4-0. A similar result came in the second game against Kanata Rangers, except that the Fury scored one less goal, winning 3-0. The final round robin game they played was agains the Stittsville Rockets on Saturday night, November 4. That one was the most convincing win of the the three, a 6-0 final score.

Fury goalie Scotyln Slack was credited with shut outs in all 3 round robin games.

The Semi final against the rival Kingston Ice Wolves on Sunday morning was a tighter, defensive battle, with the Fury scoring only twice, but once again Scotlyn Slack was credited with shutout after a 2-0 victory.

The Fury advanced to Sunday’s final against the Nepean Wildcats, starting later in the day at 3:30pm.

The Wildcats were first to score against the Fury 6:59 into the first period, the first and only shot to get past Slack in the entire tournament. Before the end of the period, however, the Fury tied it up as Katie Tye scored with 1:48 left in the period. The second and third periods were scoreless. After regulation time ended, it was off to a 5 minute overtime with the teams playing 4 on 4. Still no score.

A shootout followed. The first shooters for both teams scored, and the tiebreak went to a second and third shooter without settling things. Finally, the Fury’s Claire Seymour scored an unanswered goal in the fourth round, and the Frontenac Fury brought the gold medal back to Piccadilly.
