Frontenac Paramedics Dave Doran, Ingmar Freitag, Jason Kervin, and Jeremie Hurtubise are among 274 Ontario paramedics to receive the Governor General’s Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal this year.

The award is presented to paramedics who have provided the highest quality of care for at least 20 years. Recipients who have performed their duties in an exemplary manner, characterized by good conduct, industry, and efficiency, are nominated by an advisory committee of paramedic leaders.

“I am honoured to be awarded the EMS Exemplary Service medal,” said Kervin. “Being a paramedic is a tough job and I am grateful to the colleagues who have taught, mentored, and supported me throughout my career. The staff of Frontenac Paramedics are a caring, compassionate, and innovative group of which I am proud to be a part.”

Ontario recipients were announced at the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs (OAPC) Fall Symposium and AGM in Collingwood, September 28.

“I so proud of this year’s honourees,” said Frontenac Paramedics Chief Gale Chevalier. “They have each earned this prestigious recognition for their years of outstanding, dedication, service and contribution to their communities and our profession.

“Congratulations to them and to all Ontario paramedics honoured this year.”
