Photo: Singer Martine Buissart and accompanist Pat Ross perform at Nomad's Rest
Lisa Tremblay and David Daszkiewicz, owners of Nomad’s Rest, presented a free outdoor musical event at their picturesque bed and breakfast on Highway 7 near Mountain Grove. Classical singer, Martine Buissart of Harlowe, presented Melodies in the Breeze, a diverse repertoire of English, Italian and French classical and popular music. She performed a selection of songs that included “Summertime”, “Memory” from Cats, “Lascia Ch'io Pianga” from Handel’s opera Rinaldo and a beautiful version of “La Vie En Rose”. Buissart is a talented singer and her delivery was emotive - musically adroit. Her delicate and expressive soprano and fluttering vibrato made her the perfect romantic choice for the event. Buissart was expertly accompanied on piano by Pat Ross and the two performed on an outdoor stage in the garden, surrounded by listeners who sat on colourful satin-pillowed wooden benches, all under a sunny sky. From afar the entire setting was reflected in the garden pond, infusing the event with a timeless quality and making it the perfect subject for an impressionistic painting. Following the concert guests enjoyed coffee and home-made mini cream puffs in a variety of flavours, courtesy of local pastry chef Laura Wood. This was the second free concert to take place at Nomad's Rest. The next musical event is scheduled for September 10 and will be a Celtic repertoire performed under a full moon by Kaitlin Balogh.
