To mark the beginning of Truth and Reconciliation Week in Canada, Chief Doreen Davis of the Shabot Obaadjiwan First Nation, and Central Frontenac Mayor Frances Smith, gathered with members and staff from the Shabot Obaadjiwan and the township at Sharbot Lake beach. One of the flagpoles at the beach was designated early this year to be available for special events. The Sharbot Obaadjiwan flag was raised at the flagpole, after a smudging ceremony. After threatening weather all day, the sun shone and the temperature rose in advance of the flagpole raising at 4pm, and holding the ceremony at the water’s edge fit the occasion well. J
