Meet Lori McIsaac. Lori moved to Kingston from the GTA, to be closer to family and to get out of big city life. She bought a cottage on Bobs Lake in 2019, which was high on her bucket list.
She has had a career in project management and was working for Regional Tourism Organisation 9 (RTO-9) which is a provincially funded marketing agency that covers the territory that runs along the shore of Lake Ontario from Belleville all the way to Cornwall, and includes South Frontenac in its catchment area.
Shevolunteers with the North and Central Frontenac Food Bank and joined the Sharbot Lake Business Group as a volunteer, realizing what a special place the Sharbot Lake area is, and having a desire to help the business community. Together with her fellow directors of the SLBG, visitsharbotlake.ca website was recently launched, promoting the area to visitors.
When the pandemic hit, her work with RTO-9 was limited to her home office. "I am a people person. I don't do well standing at a desk." she said.
By the time the pandemic had abated and it was time for her to get back to the office, the idea of leaving Bobs Lake every morning to head into an office in Kingston did not appeal to her, so she made another pivot.
Through her volunteer work with the Sharbot Lake Business Group, she became friends with Alison Robinson, the founder of Lake District Realty in Sharbot Lake, and Alison encouraged her to take on a new career in real estate.
“In my life I have dealt with real estate in so many ways. I was I the condo market, the detached home market, vacation properties. I have always been interested in the process of real estate, but I felt like it was too much of a transactional process, and it left little room to connect with clients."
With that as her starting point, Lori took on the real estate education and licensing program through Humber College, in 2022, doing and achieved her realtors license.
“I loved the challenge of learning all of the legal processes and protocols of the real estate world, and there are many!” she said.
After obtaining her license, she began working as a real estate agent and is connected with Perth based Realty Executives, but her listings tend to come from the area that she calls home.
“I live where I work and that is the greater Frontenac and Kingston areas. I know this market. It really is an amazing part of South Eastern Ontario. I help people sell their homes with style and straight-up candid advice."
