On Tuesday, January 14th (see Council report on this page) the Frontenac Heritage was dead. But, it turned out that it was only 99% dead, which means it was still alive.
On Wednesday, January 15th, the Central Frontenac Township Economic Development Committee met with Recreation Committee members, and by the end of the meeting, the 2025 Frontenac Heritage Festival was alive again, and kicking..
It won’t have all of the events that have been featured in previous years, but given where the festival was just a day earlier, it will still be a wide ranging event with some of the key elements that have been highlights of the Heritage Festival since it was founded almost 20 years ago.
The Polar Plunge will take place on the morning of Sunday the 16th, with a chili lunch at the Legion. The Sharbot Lake Pickleball Club has stepped forward to handle organising the plunge.
In Arden, Kennebec Lake Association will host again, and the Matson farm event is back as well. The skating rinks in Arden, Sharbot Lake, and Tichborne will have special events.
For example, at the Sharbot Lake rink, the Cardinal Café will have Pizza for sale between 4 and 6 pm on the Saturday and Sunday
The Child Centre will have snow shows available, and a historical display at the Caboose Park is being arranged.
On Sunday, in addition to the Polar Plunge, the Sharbot Lake Farmers Market will have a winter market at the Oso Hall, and a craft show is being organised as well. All of the details and a full schedule of events is still coming together, and will be available in a week or so.
So don’t make any plans to go away for Family Day weekend, because the Heritage Festival will create a busy Saturday and Sunday, and on Monday, the Family Day party at the Frontenac Arena is set to go as well.
