Snow this week, followed by seasonal temperatures, comes as a relief to organisers of several events this weekend.
The Frontenac Heritage Festival, which kicks off with an indoor event, Frontenac’s got Talent, on Friday night (February 16) will be followed by outdoor events throughout Central Frontenac; in the Arden, Sharbot Lake, and Tichborne areas on Saturday and Sunday. The upgraded ice rinks in both Arden and Sharbot Lake will be on full display, and with cold nightly temperatures the ice conditions should be at their midwinter best.
Indoor highlights include the Kennebec and District Hisorical Society display on Saturday in Arden (Kennebec Hall) and the Heritage Quilt display at the Sharbot Lake United Church.
Outdoors, the beach at Sharbot Lake will be a busy spot on Saturday. The Matson Family Fun Day and Kennebec Lake Assocation Snow Day are Sunday highlights.
And don’t miss the All You Can Eat Breakfast at The Sharbot Lake Anglican Church on Saturday or the Chili Lunch at the Sharbot Legion after the Polar Plunge at Sharbot Lake Marina on Sunday.
For details, look to Northern Happenings on page 10 or the Frontenac Heritage Festival Facebook page The snow should also make the snow shoe trails for “Winterland” at Back Forty Cheese in North Frontenac, along with campfire fun and the best food adventure north of 7, also on Saturday.
And on Monday, South Frontenac’s annual Family Day at the Frontenac Arena and grounds, kicks off at 11am. Outdoor fun in the snow, buggy rides, skating. The Frontenac County Dairy Farmers Association are spnosoring free hot chocolate, s’mores, and milk.
(Note - the print version of this article has been edited, as it erroneously said that there was a free lunch at the Family Day event at the Frontenac Community Arena.)
