NFLT is delighted to announce our upcoming fall play “Screwball Comedy” by Norm Foster. We have presented many Norm Foster plays over the years, and they have always been crowd pleasers. This play revolves around a seasoned reporter pitted against a cub reporter by a gruff newspaper editor. The stakes being a position at the newspaper.

Tim White is returning in a lead role as the seasoned reporter Jeff Kinkaid, his first since his lead in “Music Man”. Tim, from Henderson, has a long involvement with NFLT and we are happy to see him back onstage. Also from Henderson, Sarah Deline is bravely making her acting debut in the other lead role as cub reporter Mary Hayes. Hopefully she will become a regular.

Beth Freeland is playing Delores Diddle, the owner of the newspaper whose son Chauncey is the subject of the newspaper article. Beth played Aunt Polly in NFLT’s “Tom Sawyer” and has acted in other troupes over the years. It’s good to have her back with us. Delores’ son Chauncey is being played by NFLT veteran Mason Moore. Mason has been involved in NFLT since childhood and this is his second adult role. Another NFLT veteran, John Stevens, plays the Diddle’s zany butler Reginald. John and Mason can always be counted on to deliver great performances.

Art Holloway is moving from behind the scenes to take on his first acting role as Delores’ jaunty fiancé Peter Terwilliger. Carey Bell and Karen Steele are both doing double duty. Carey has done some acting while in school and now lives in Sharbot Lake and is making her NFLT debut as both Jonesy the Boss’s world wise and wise cracking secretary and Chauncey’s ambitious fiancé Gloria Fontana. Karen Steele is directing the play and playing Boss Lady (BL), the newspaper editor. NFLT is happy to have Karen back directing. She continues her strong NFLT acting presence after Matilda in the Red Lamp.

Behind the scenes, lights and sound will be done by Jeff Siamon. Angela Cowdy is taking care of costumes and make up and Linda Bush will be stage manager. Sandy Robertson is front of house manager while Brian Robertson and Gord Sirrs are handling set design and construction. After performing in the last two NFLT’s productions, Hope Andrew slides over to the Assistant Director’s chair.

Screwball Comedy is playing at Oso Hall, Thursday, November 16th and Friday November 17th at 7PM and Sunday November 19th a matinee at 2PM. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. They are available at C4 in Arden, Cardinal café, the Pharmacy and Treasure Trunk in Sharbot Lake.
