Under the direction of Mr. Giller, Mr. MacPherson and other staff members “Coffee House” became a way for staff and students to share their musical talents. Student and staff enjoyed the fun and learning experience of making music with other talented singers and musicians.

The mid 90’s would see the school under construction for the last and final time. When the dust settled we had a new library and computer lab, a new guidance area and the one and only elevator in town. This construction put the cafeteria out of service for almost the entire year. Mrs. Abbott and her home economics class stepped up and offered different snacks and lunch ideas on a weekly basis. Many groups provided lunch hour bake sales. The May Prom was held at the Oso Hall in Sharbot Lake.

A new idea in education was to immerse students into a program with four credits that spoke to the students’ interests and possible future vocations.

A program offered at Sharbot Lake was Ventures North. So rather than SLHS students being bused to schools in the south of our county students came “north”.

Mr. Giller & Mr. MacPherson taught these students skills to appreciate, understand, and enjoy the great outdoors. Ski trips, canoe trips, first aid, survival tips made for a fabulous time for all the students.

A new wood shop teacher, Mr. Votery along with his construction class learned how to build a home from the ground up, when they built a cottage for George Findlay. The students and teacher could walk over for their class time and learn hands on a new skill from licensed carpenters, plumbers, electricians and decorators.
