From: "Marley was dead, to begin with" all the way to: " God bless us, Every one!", lies a story that we grew up to know. Whether we read the works of Charles Dickens, or watched Mickey Mouse and friends, we did grow up with the story.
What is the story? Scrooge, who carries a name which became synonymous to stingy, changes into a caring, giving individual upon being reminded by the three ghosts of his past, present and future, that his money and wealth amount to nothing should he not be among people he cares about.
In a few days, wrapped in winter jackets, we will be watching beautifully decorated floats go by and we do that while being surrounded by family and friends.
At that moment in time, the Lions Club members would be serving hot chocolate, and wrapping gifts for kids. Some Lions, along with some students from NAEC, will be visiting and entertaining the residents at Pine Meadow Nursing Home.
A week from then vendors will line the Lions Hall selling their hand-made products. And soon after that children will experience the magical world of Santa's Workshop where elves of all ages, along with their leader, Santa himself, will flock in to bring laughter and merriment.
If our past, present and future ghosts watch over us, what will they see? Simply putting it: A community that cares. And isn't that enough to repeat: "God bless us, Every one"?
Till we meet again in a Roar, deck your houses with colorful lights, watch feel-good movies huddled under comfy blankets, and join us at the Lions Hall, on the 18th of November, for a ham dinner in support of Diabetes Canada.
