The Lions Club of Land O’Lakes is very excited to announce the launch of our Emergency Centre Capital Campaign. As an official Emergency Centre, our Lions Hall would be available to provide shelter, power, heat or cooling for our extended community in the event of an emergency. The launch happens at the Lions Golf Tournament on August 12th at 2pm at Hunters Creek Golf Club and is open to the public. Please come out and support this great initiative.

The Lions Club of Land O’Lakes is hosting our annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 12th at Hunter’s Creek Golf Club on Hwy 506. Registration starts at 8 am with a Shotgun start at 9. The cost is $55 which includes 18 holes of play and a lunch. There will also be a putting green contest and a live auction open to the public at 2pm. Funds raised from this event will go towards our goal of purchasing a generator for the Lions Hall as part of the Emergency Centre Capital Campaign. Come on out to golf or to the auction.

I am proud to be a Lion and no more so than to be one from Canada. This past month at the International Lions Convention in Boston MA Dr. Patti Hill, from Edmonton AB, was elected President of this worldwide Club. She is only the second woman to have this honour since the Lions were formed in 1917. It wasn’t until 1987 that women were allowed to join the Lions. Our own club has had several women as Presidents. Dr. Hill's goal is to “Change the world, 1 life, 1 relationship and 1 community at a time”, a motto that each of us could follow every day. Dr. Hill is also concentrating her year on the environment “Go Green”. This is a topic that many of us are addressing with the apparent changes in our climate and how this is affecting us.
