Bon Echo Festival of the Arts

This is the second year back for the Arts Festival, which takes place this year on the main beach at Bon Echo Park, one of the busiest spots in Addington Highlands on a hot summer afternoon.

The Festival has a long history in the park, but was interrupted by the COVID pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

“We are growing it back,” said Stephanie Delyea, the administrator for the Friends of Bon Echo, the community group that supports the park.

This year there are 10 exhibitors at the show, some returning from last year and a few who are new, and the indigenous component of the festival is growing as well, which is fitting given its location next to the Bon Echo Rock and its ancient pictographs

“One of them is a hoop dancer, which is pretty exciting, and Victoria is a pyrographer who is coming with a group of friends as well,” said Delyea.

Other exhibitors include a number of painters, and Sarah Sproule will be showing fur items and providing education for festival goers about the sustainable trapping culture in the region.

The festival runs from 10am-4pm on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22. There will be a BBQ, presented by the Friends of Bon Echo, from 12noon-2pm each day.

Park admission is free on Friday, July 21, and a day pass will need to be purchased in order to attend on Saturday.
