Back to HomeFeature Article - May 14, 2009 Lee Butler wins CSRA Championshipby JoAnne Butler

On April 4 and 5, Lee Butler’s hard work and determination paid off at Horseshoe Valley Resort. He won the National Pro Stock and Pro Open and the Regional Pro Stock and Pro Open in the CSRA (Canadian Snowcross Racing Association). He won each class by a margin of 100 points, and had an accident free season riding a Polaris for his sponsor Royal Distributing.

Lee grew up in Northbrook and has raced in the circuit for seven years, starting in Sport class then Semi Pro and turned Pro in 2005/2006. In the past he raced Arctic Cat and Ski-doo, and enjoyed some wins with these sleds but nothing compared to this season. He started out as a privateer with support from his employer Carwell Construction, and local businesses Nowell Motors and Bence Motors. When his talent in the sport became evident he was picked up by a racing team and his career in racing began. The CSRA hosts events all across Ontario and Quebec with ten to fifteen races a season. Lee also races in the United States a few times each season. In fact one of his career highlights was winning a WSA (World Snowmobile Association) Semi Pro National in 2004.

Lee has worked hard this year. He started training in July 08’ with a rigorous workout program and a specific diet designed for him. He is without question in the best physical shape of his life. Being physically prepared for his competitions helped keep him accident free which, similar to any sport is key to winning. After graduating from NAEC he left the area for employment but still calls Northbrook home. His family and friends are very proud of his past accomplishments as well as his wins this year. Congratulations Lee for a well deserved win!
