Through strength, courage, faith and hope we can do anything. This is the motto of Strokes Fore Hopes 2009.

Strength, courage, faith and hope are some of the things that cancer patients and their families need every day to deal with the unthinkable. Strokes Fore Hopes was the idea of Edward Goodfellow. Last year he decided to combine his passion for golf with his desire to help cancer patients and their families. So on June 19 and 20, 2008, Edward and his friend Andrew Fazackerley struck out to walk and golf for 24 hours straight at Rivendell Golf Course to raise funds for the Southeastern Ontario Cancer Clinic. Through a kick-off breakfast, a silent auction table, pledges and incredible community support, they were able to give the Cancer Clinic $17,000. Strokes Fore Hopes also qualified for a government initiative that meant a $1 donation was a $10 donation. Because of Strokes Fore Hopes, the Cancer Clinic received $170,000.

Because of last year’s success they have decided to take the 24 hour journey again on June 25th & 26th. For a $10 donation, supporters can be part of a kick-off breakfast from 7:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Rivendell Golf Course and can see Edward and Andrew start their golf marathon. Supporters can then play a round of golf and qualify to win a car from Revell Ford by being the first person to successfully complete a hole in one on a specified hole. Those that want to help can also bid on silent auction items and make a monetary donation.
