Feature Article - January 17 2008 Frontenac Fury Atom Girls Take Home Ice Wolves Cup

Sydenham – The Frontenac Fury girl’s hockey league is on top of the score board again, and leading the way is our new Atom Girls team! “We haven’t had an Atom team in our league in a few years. The teams’ success this year has been amazing”, says, Buff Chadwick, President of the Frontenac Girls Hockey Association.

The Atom girls coached by Don Klein, Mitch Fallis and DeeDee Babcock participated in the Ice Wolves Cup last weekend, taking home the Atom House League Championship Cup. The first game against the Carlton Place Cyclones was a close one, with Carleton Place scoring in the last 2 minutes of play to win the game 1-0.

Winning games against the Kanata Wildcats, the Nepean Chicks with Sticks, the Nepean Exploding Volcanoes and the Carleton Place Power Girls placed the Fury girls in the final against the Gloucester Cumberland Bandits. The girls came out on top, beating the 1st seeded team (Gloucester Cumberland Bandits) 3-1.

Congratulations to all the girls and coaching staff on a great tournament. We are very proud of you!
