Feature Article - March 20, 2008 Draft Central Frontenac budget calls for tax increase. The first draft of the 2008 budget that was presented by staff to Central Frontenac Council calls for a 10.1% increase in township taxation.
Fortunately for ratepayers in Central Frontenac, the county portion of their taxes is down by 3.7% this year, so the proposed municipal tax increase in Central Frontenac stands at only 5.4%.
The tax rate that would result if the budget were approved as presented would be $1,468 for every $100,000 assessment, up $75 from 2007.
The proposed increase is mainly due to increase in road construction.
Council saw the budget for the first time this week, and will begin working through the budget in earnest on April 1.
