A disturbing incident at Prince Charles’ Public School has police calling on the public for help. Sometime between the end of school on Friday May 9, and the start of school on Monday, May 12, someone spray - painted what Frontenac OPP communications officer Natalie McDowell describes as a “word and a symbol” on a wall and a tree behind the school. “The culprits also damaged a soccer net,” McDowell said.

Because of the height of the paint and the type of materials that people would need to have access to to commit the crime, as well as the character of the kids attending school this year, Prince Charles’ Principal Scott Gillam is very confident that it is not a student that did this to the school.

“We’re pretty much 100% positive that it is not a present student that is responsible,” said Gillam.

Since there were no witnesses, and the back of the school is exposed to the K&P trail, police are waiting to hear from someone, either through Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or directly to the Frontenac detachment , at 613-372-1932, in order to further their investigation.

“We need someone to come forward,” said McDowell.

The incident seems to have been an isolated one, as no further incidents have taken place in the 10 days following its discovery.

Maintenance workers from the Limestone Board have cleaned up the wall that was defaced.
