God makes moms of special stuff

by Wes Boomhower

(To Moms everywhere)

Back on the farm when I was young

My father worked from sun to sun,

But mother's work was never done.

Seemed days weren't long enough.

Milking to do, feed the hens,

Into the house to feed us men,

Get young ones off to school again.

Seemed days weren't long enough.

Cream to churn and bread to bake,

Clothes to wash and meals to make,

If she had time, whip up a cake.

Seemed days weren't long enough.

Lamps to clean and wicks to trim,

Socks to knit and clothes to mend,

With luck she'd be in bed by ten.

Seemed days weren't long enough.

One of us sick, she'd walk the floor

But rise again at half past four

To help my father with the chores.

Seemed days weren't long enough.

And some may think the moms today

Have it soft, but I'm here to say,

Most work two jobs, one doesn't pay.

Seems days aren't long enough.

And God makes moms of special stuff,

Resilient, full of love, but tough,

And makes His days just long enough

For moms to get things done.
