Feature Article - May 3, 2007Nancy Drew and the Clue in the Jewel Box presented at LOLPS
by Jeff Green
Land o’ Lakes Public School’s intrepid theatre promoter Brian Robertson worked with dozens of students from all age groups for this year’s musical production, which combined a mystery with street dancing, a tribute to Avril Lavigne’s Sk8ter Boi, music from Oliver, and a fashion show, all in one 90-minute production.
The action revolved around Nicole Domen who played Nancy Drew, Kaitlyn Hannah as Mme. Alexandra, and Mathew Stefan, who played Mme. Alexandra’s long-lost son Charles.
Among the soloists were Domen and Hannah, as well as Lindsay Collis, Candace MacRae, and Cody Matson. Special mention goes out to Karl Murray and Andrew Barr who brought a lot of Jimmy Cagney’s swagger to the characters of Bossie and Klutzie. Krista Miekar as Mary Versace also did an excellent job.
As is the case in all Land o’ Lakes endeavors, the entire staff, and most of the students, made contributions to the play.
