Feature Article - September 7, 2006"Tomato Madness"at Frontenac Farmer's Market
Saturday September 16th,8AM to 1PM
On Saturday September 16th, from 8Amto 1PM, The Bank of Montreal-Verona Branch, is sponsoring Tomato Madness at the Frontenac Farmers Market held at the Verona Lions Hall. On display, and free for everyone to taste, over 20 varieties of heirloom tomatoes will adorn the market booth. Among them, Harry’s Mom’s Paste, Lillian’s Yellow Heirloom and Black Zebra are just three of the varieties to be featured. From minuscule to giant, black to purple and round to bumpy, these heirloom tomatoes will be sure to please the palate. You will even find fried green tomatoes courtesy of Maple-Lim Farm and free for all visitors. At the market booth, there will be a display on how to make ketchup and the mystery boxes will be filled with tomato tools and trivia. In addition to the display booths, vendors will also share dishes made with fresh, locally grown tomatoes.
