The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA) has downgraded the flood status for inland lakes. Conditions on inland lakes in the Cataraqui Region continue to improve and it is expected that water levels will return to normal in the coming days.
Water managers continue to conduct operations to minimize the effects and pass flows down through the system. Dams (water control structures) remain open and continue to flow more than normal for this time of year.
The CRCA is urging residents to exercise caution outdoors around lakes and streams, and to stay away from deep, fast flowing watercourses, as well as any dams and outflow channels.
CRCA staff will continue to monitor conditions and forecasts, and will update statements as needed. This Watershed Conditions Statement will remain in effect until August 22, at which point conditions can be assumed to be normal, unless an updated statement is issued. Previously high water warnings had been issued for Loughborough and Charleston Lakes.
