It is with great sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of Lyle Abrams at Rideaucrest Home in his 78th year. Beloved husband of 23 years to Norma (Barnes) and much loved father to Jan (William) MacPhail, Pat (Frank) Player, Pam (David) Freeman and Laurie (Bruce) Wagar. Lyle will be missed greatly by his grandchildren, Blake (Mara), Trent (Meagan)MacPhail, Blaire (Will) Kelly, Michelle (Dan), Kelsey Player, Ben & Josh (April) Freeman, Caitlin and Kyleigh Wagar, Nicki (A.J.) Mundell and Jessie (Randy) Mundell-George. Lyle will be missed by his step children Debbie (Jack) Mundell, Brian Ellerbeck. Lyle will be missed by his much loved brothers, Don (Charlotte), Ralph (Doreen), Les (Lynda) Abrams, and sisters, Alice Clarke (Gene Kelly) and Bernice Day (David). He will be also missed by his in-laws Joan Foley (Gord Harrington) and Bob (Faye) Barnes. Lyle was predeceased by his parents William and Jean Abrams, his grandson Wesley Freeman and step son Barry Ellerbeck. Lyle spent his early career driving truck for Shell and then was Road Superintendent for Loughborough Township for 20 years. He was a member of the Loughborough Fire Department for 35+ years and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 496. Lyle loved family gatherings, often being the centre of attention. He loved supporting his grandchildren’s sporting events, graduations and having everyone around for the annual Horseshoe Tournament. Lyle will be missed by all who knew him and most especially the community of Sydenham. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Visitation was held at Harrowsmith Free Methodist Church on Monday, July 29 from 1-3 and 6-8 and the celebration of Lyle’s life was held on Tuesday, July 30 at the church at 11 a.m. Interment in Sydenham Cemetery.
