Central Frontenac cuts ties with CAO/Works Manager Zimmerman

The solution to a gap in leadership at the top of the corporate ladder in Central Frontenac has turned into a huge problem. When James (Jim) Zimmerman was hired by the township just 3 months ago Mayor Frances Smith said she was happy to have solved two problems with one hire. Now, she must be wondering if placing all the townships eggs in one basket was such a good idea after all.

Late this morning, the township sent out a terse press release

"The Mayor of Township Central Frontenac, Frances Smith announced after a special meeting of Council June 16th, that the employment contract with James (Jim) Zimmerman, CAO/Public Works Manager and the Township will be terminated effective immediately.  Mayor and Council wish him all the best in his future business endeavours" was all it said.

Smith attended a meeting of Frontenac County Council yesterday and did not indicate anything was wrong. As welll, Zimmerman attended the patio opening at the Simmonet building on Sunday, as did the Mayor. There was no indication at that time that anything was untoward.
