Letters - November 6,2008 Letters: November 6Re: Kinship Families, Ruth Cooke
Re: Kinship Families? It was so good to see Ina Hunt-Turner’s letter to the editor re Funding Cuts to Kinship Families. Whether it be a G.A.P. group (Grandparents as Parents), a R.O.C.K. group (Raising our Children’s Kids) or just a plain old grandma & grandpa raising their grandchildren, it all boils down to money - or should I say the lack of?
There are petitions circulating in the community to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario for some sort of fostering funds. So folks, I hope you see and sign them because it would be a crime for some children to have to go back in care when they can stay at home, where they are loved and cared for. You can find copies of the petitions at Sharbot Lake Pharmacy, North Frontenac Pet Supplies and Sears.
Ruth Cooke, a.k.a. Grandma C.
