Feature Article - March 8, 2007Fundraiser for the Moreys of Harrowsmith
Curtis and Pam Morey, a young couple from Harrowsmith, finally have a date for the operations where Pam will donate one of her kidneys to Curtis. Curtis has been suffering from kidney disease for more than 25 years and his health steadily declined to the point of needing dialysis or a new kidney. Curtis considers himself very lucky that his wife is a match and is willing to donate one of her kidneys to him. The surgery was originally scheduled for last year, but due to an infection, Curtis could not undergo the operation and it was postponed. The surgery is now scheduled to be performed in Ottawa on March 16, and the expenses for travel, accommodation, meals, etc. , as well as the ongoing expenses for medicine, will be considerable.
Friends have organized a fundraiser for Pamela and Curtis, which will be held at 560 Legion, 734 Montreal St. in Kingston , on Saturday March 10th. Doors open at 8pm. Three bands will be playing: The Eric Baragar "One Man Stage Show"; Big Mo and the Blues Mission; and 10-4. Contact Rob (Hammer) at 613-547-3611 for tickets. There will be door prizes and a silent auction. For more information visit http://www.moreyfundraiser.com/
