A group of rudimental drummers from the CADRE (Canadian Associates Drumming Rudimental Excellence) organization were in Sharbot Lake last weekend for a training camp to practice their competition drumming repertoire. This is the second year they have come to Sharbot Lake .
CADRE is dedicated to the promotion and preservation of rudimental drumming excellence. The competition group placed first in The World Drum Corps Associates ensemble championship last Labour Day weekend in Rochester NY with a score of 96 out of a possible 100. CADRE performs throughout Canada and the USA . They have also conducted drumming clinics at The University of Toronto, Queens University and State University New York . CADRE sponsors a major annual drumming event in Hamilton , which includes an individual drumming contest. Drummers from New York , Pennsylvania , Michigan , New Jersey , Quebec , Alberta and Ontario attended last year’s event.
The picture demonstrates the instrumentation they use to demonstrate three hundred years of rudimental drumming history. CADRE’s founder and President is Fred Johnson of Sharbot Lake . The group wishes to thank Kathy and Dave Sabin and the staff of The Sharbot Lake Inn for being our hosts. Perhaps next year you could stop in and watch the drummers rehearse. Everyone is welcome.
