Students and families associated with the

Public School
took on Cancer with a vengeance last week.
Not only did they raise money through sponsors for the Relay for Life, they also shared their own experiences and heard of the experiences of others with Cancer. Several students sponsored candles in the names of relatives who have died or survived cancer, and parents and grandparents who have been touched by cancer came to the school to share their experiences. After the students completed their relay, a guest speaker talked to them about his own young children who have faced cancer, leaving few dry eyes in the school gymnasium after his talk.
Pictured are proud survivors and prouder grandparents Shirley Jones and grandson Robert, and John Stone and granddaughter Meghan Peters along with Principal Frank Girard and the big cheque.
Kingston area schools have raised over $38,000 through the Relay for Life.
