In 2010 two Verona couples, Doug and Joyce Casement and John and Sheila Steele, started a free lunch held Dec 25 for area residents alone at Christmas This holiday can be the loneliest time of the year so a free meal. music and socializing seemed a way to make it more enjoyable. And it has been working.
In the last 13 years Verona Foodland, Muddy Waters Restaurant and Food Less Travelled have donated or facilitated the donation of food. Area residents have also been generous in giving of time, food, and money.
This year the couples asked the Verona Lions to continue this tradition, and we are honored to do so.
Transitions can be challenging but we hope area businesses and individuals continue to support our efforts in hosting this event.
Last year 146 enjoyed lunch, the largest group to date. To ensure there is enough food for all the Lions ask that attendees reserve a spot by Dec 11, 2024, by calling or texting Laura Houle 613 929 7445 or Doreen Morey 613 539 6662.
