Art in the Sawmill began over 13 years ago with three local talented artists, as a showing in their home. The show then moved to the historic, rustic Sawmill in Verona, 11 years ago, and took off from there.
The crowds have increased over the years, as has the number of artisans. The show went from 3 to 8 to 10 to 14, etc, and at the August long weekend show this year, there were 32 exhibiting their beautiful wares.
The show also added another new feature 4 years ago, a holiday show. The holiday show has the same goal as the summer show, to showcase our local, handmade artists and artisan community. The work at Art in the Sawmill remains 100% handmade.
And next week the show is only growing again. The holiday show on October 19th, will feature over 40 artisans, all day live music, and Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre as our non-profit organization.
Lisa Ferguson from Hartington is among the featured artists at the show.
“Lisa’s work is strongly focused on composition and rhythmical line. She uses soft, earthy tones to convey the spirit of her surrounding environment, the beautiful surroundings of her home in Hartington,” said show organiser Ali Williams.
Ross Stewart from Rossland Gardens, is an instrument maker of some renown, and he makes banjos, ukuleles, fiddles, and tenor guitars among other instruments.
The Art in Sawmill Holiday Show runs from 10am – 4pm on Saturday, October 19. Admission is free and Winding Road Coffee will be on hand, along with some other surprises.
