What could be better than a walk in the woods on a crisp day in October as our native trees and shrubs put on a glorious display?
The Second Annual Wild Art Walk will take place amongst the trees, streams, fields and ponds of the Milburn Trail in Battersea for the entire month of October. Residents are invited to meander the 45 minute trail which can be accessed across from the ballpark in Battersea, or in the back corner of the Battersea United Church parking lot.
“We had such a great response last year that even more people wanted to get involved,” says organizer Sarah Wiseman.
Fifteen or so local residents have been busy creating installations that will be featured for the month. There will be sculpture, paintings, wooden figures and more.
“The Ents will be back!” says Sarah. Ents are tree-like creatures that live in the forest. “There will be all kinds of surprises along the entire trail.”
On the day of Pumpkinfest, 11-4 on October 5th, other artists will be on hand with displays that are less suitable to a month-long stay like quilts, baskets, watercolour paintings etc.
Visitors can read about the artists and their inspiration on little plaques at each installation. A map will be available to show visitors where they all are.
The Milburn Trail is on property owned by the Nature Conservancy of Canada and has become a well used hike in all seasons.
