Last October a great deal of fun was had by a few creative types in the woods around Battersea. The Wild Art Walk took place along the Milburn Trail across from the ballpark. The 3km trail is on land stewarded by the Nature Conservancy of Canada and has become a beloved amble which meanders through field and forest and along streams and ponds.
The brainchild of local resident, Sarah Wiseman, the Wild Art Walk, which is an official event of the Battersea Pumpkin Festival, is inviting South Frontenac residents and indigenous artists in the area to create displays in the woods. Last year, the exhibits were wide ranging. There was a giant wooden mobile, a grapevine tornado and a bevy of beavers sharing a cuppa. Anything goes! Creators can choose to display their art for the month of October, or on the day of the Pumpkin Festival which is October 5th.
Everyone is welcome to participate. You do not need to be a “professional”. It’s about having an opportunity to have fun creating and playing in the woods!
