Clothing Optional Proposal for South Frontenac Beaches

In a brave new step, South Frontenac’s recreation coordinator Samantha Cupboard is proposing opening several of the Township’s most popular beaches as clothing optional this summer.

“It’s a great way to prevent Vitamin D deficiency, and to rediscover some of the joy of childhood; who doesn’t remember the fun of ‘skinny dipping’? Says Cupboard. She reminds participants to use lots of sunscreen, and bring bug spray, “but leave your camera turned off.”

The proposal may have to deal with some shade before being approved however.

One of the Loughborough Councillors said that he opposes the idea, citing community standards, and said he is considering opposing it.

“We may have to pick and choose where this should apply,” he said, “sort of like we did with Pickleball and Tennis courts. Not everyone wants to go to nude beach. I know I don’t want to. Maybe it is a good idea at Gilmour Point or McMullen Park, but not at the Point Park for example. You can almost see that beach from the library!”

The Mayor could not be reached for comment.

The so-called ‘nude beach’ motion is on the agenda at a special meeting of council on Monday, April 1st.
