(FRONTENAC, ON) - On February 4, 2021 at approximately 6:30 p.m. officers of the South Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop for a traffic violation on Road 38, City of Kingston.
During the traffic stop a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted. The driver was subsequently arrested and taken to Frontenac Detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation Frontenac OPP have charged Cole BARKLEY, age 30, of Kingston with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences:
Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs CC 320.14(1)(a)
Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)
Red light - proceed before green HTA 144(18)
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on March 24, 2022. The accused's licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
