News from St. John the Evangelist Church: “We celebrated our Priest Father Paul Njoku's Silver Jubilee today and we are pleased to offer our sincere congratulations to him on his 25th Anniversary of his Ordination. Join us in giving thanks and prayers for his steadfast dedication to God's work. He observed this milestone with a wonderful Mass, followed by a celebration at the Flinton Hall. Visitors attended from Rome (The Vatican), England, the USA, Alberta, Ottawa, Kingston & Toronto as well as St. John & St. Kilian parishioners to enjoy this celebration with him. Father Paul also received certificates of congratulations from Pope Leo XIV, the Premier of Ontario Doug Ford, our MP Shelby Kramp Neuman and our MPP,  Ric Bresee.  Congratulations Father Paul.  May God bless you now & always.”

Exciting News from the Flinton Community Garden: “The Flinton Accessible Community Garden is the proud recipient of a Naturally L&A Activation Grant allocated to the construction of a garden shed. The $2500 Grant will help us achieve another goal in our infrastructure process. The garden shed is a key element in our development. The shed will store necessary garden tools, hoses, watering cans and potting supplies for those who use the garden. This will mean that those with accessibility or mobility issues won’t have to cart key items back and forth. This will benefit those who don’t have their own transportation, or cannot afford to purchase those supplies. It will also keep our garden neat and tidy and aesthetically pleasing. Gary Delage of Roofs 2 Riches Exterior has generously agreed to supply roofing, soffit and fascia as well as designing eaves that will allow us to collect rain water in rain barrels (when we add those in). This meets another of our project goals, an environmental goal that will be a great addition to our water totes that were also donated. Our community has been generous and kind to help the garden achieve our goals. If you are a business owner or community member, contractor who would be interested in helping us reach our next goal with the garden shed please reach out. We are thankful for all the support thus far for this community lead project. We would not be this far along without you. Let’s continue to grow together! Stay tuned for our next exciting announcement.”

The Little Boutique Consignment Store is asking for your help: “The community needs your children’s clothing donations! This as a reminder that I am currently accepting donations of children’s clothing for my “Back-to-School” community clothing drive. Please visit the boutique during our business hours to donate your excess school-aged children’s clothing, we greatly appreciate everyone’s support with this initiative. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, thank you!”

Thanks to all who are respecting our Central Frontenac Township’s Level 1 Fire Ban by stopping open-air burning—including grass, brush, and no fireworks either. I know we can count on folks to be cautious in this precarious time. Cooking fires and campfires are still allowed, but we ask everyone to be extra careful as dry conditions are truly perilous!! We thank all of our firefighters and responders big time.

My word folks really rocked the Henderson United Church fund raising pancake breakfast and it was yummy in the tummy. The support, donations, and folks coming "from away" were out of this world and we are right some grateful indeed. I can’t imagine how many pancakes we cooked- it was truly phenomenal, so thanks folks.

Deepest sympathy to our own Harlowe musical gang person, Roy Bradshaw whose daughter Emily died this past week. Roy, who is a partner to Marie White, will be singing on Sun. Aug. 17 for an early morning musical hour-long service from 8::45am – 9:45am followed by light refreshments at the Henderson UCW Hall, and all are welcome. Dress is casual. This coming Sunday August 10 Henderson United will feature Licensed Lay Worship Leader Sharon MacDonald from Sharbot Lake at 8:45am

Plevna

The gas tanks are being upgraded at the North of 7 Store in Plevna.  Starting Mon Aug 11th there will be no fuel available for about a week. Check in at the store for more information.

Congratulations to Glen and Linda Manion of Ardoch! They purchased the winning 50/50 ticket from the Napanee Raiders Booth at the Napanee Fair and graciously donated it back to the club!

We still haven't found the owner of the gold wedding band that was found at the Sand Lake Beach. It is currently at the Plevna Library Branch. It was found on Tues July 8th. Interestingly, a gentleman came into the library to check because he said his daughter lost her beautiful engagement ring with a square diamond at the beach a few years ago and they were hoping this found ring was it. So, if you have found or do find a ring there that matches the description, we can get it back to its owner! Wouldn't that be nice after all this time. Please share with people you know to see if we can find the owner and find this other ring. Thank you!

If you enjoy a beautiful church service to start your week off on the right foot, the next bi-weekly service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Plevna is coming up this Sun Aug 10th at 9 am. Afterwards the group gathers at the North of 7 restaurant to enjoy a yummy breakfast. Everyone is welcome!

You are invited to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Palmerston/Canonto Fire Station in Ompah and the 30th anniversary of the EFR (Emergency First Response) Team in Ompah.  It will be Sat. Aug. 16 from 11-1 at the Ompah Fire Station.

Do you have talent? Are you a musician, singer, dancer or comedian? Do you have a good skit you think would entertain a crowd? The Ompah Music Night and Variety Show is coming up on Fri Aug 29 at 7pm and they are looking for talent! It will be at the Ompah Community Centre (10200 Road 509)  Don't wait to sign up because there are limited spots available in what is sure to be a Fabulously Entertaining and can't miss 2-hour show! For more info or to sign up, you can contact Leane at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

For more information or to donate some items, you can contact a teacher from the school or one of the parents. Thank you!!
