Summerfest was certainly the place to be this past Saturday! It keeps getting bigger and better every year! The music was Fantastic! Texas Tuxedo was belting out great tunes most of the afternoon and Winterfest Talent Show Winner Jonathan Hermer impressed everybody with his musical skills on the fiddle! Thank you very much to Lonnie Watkins for loaning his stage to the event and a fan to keep the musicians cool. I am certain they appreciated it!! There were so many great vendors to shop from, activities to enjoy and a great selection of yummy food for everybody to choose; including a beaver tail truck that had a line up most of the afternoon!
Lonnie and I would like to thank everybody that stopped by the dunk tank to help raise $250 each for Clarendon School and the Clar-Mill Community Volunteers! Also Thanks to Charlie Watkins, Kevin McCann, Angela Case and another dad for stepping in the tank at the end to give Lonnie a break. We think kids dunking parents might be a good plan for next year! What do you think?
Our community really appreciates the time and efforts that Cyndy Bonello, John Inglis, Don Vaillancourt, Brooke Ross and everybody else that helps each year to make this event so spectacular!! I can't wait for Summerfest 2026!!

Sharbot Lake
by Greg Rodgers
This Saturday (July 26th) will be a full and exciting day in the village of Sharbot Lake as we celebrate the end of Deer Fly Season. (Good Riddance!!!)
Here is what’s going down!
9 am – The Framers’ Market at the Beach park opens and runs until noon. Always a great way to kick off the weekend whether you are a resident or a visitor. Stay tuned for some upcoming special events at the market in the coming weeks.
10 am – The Sharbot Lake Property Owners Association will be will be holding its Annual General Meeting at Soldiers Memorial Hall (OSO Hall) and is open to the public. Even if you are not a cottager on Sharbot Lake, it is always a great event for staying in touch with matters related to our lake and its environment.
Also at 10am- Tired of assembling your jigsaw puzzles over and over? Well forget about ordering new ones online and come to the KPL public Library (Sharbot Lake Branch – 1037 Robert St) for a “Puzzle Swap.”
6pm at the Sharbot Lake Beach Park - The Big event of the day will be the 4th annual “Beach Bash” music festival, sponsored by the Country Music Association of Ontario. This year’s line is being touted as the best ever, featuring Jason Blaine, Tyler Lorette, Mackenzie Leigh Taylor, Sully Burrows. Tickets are available at CMAOntario.ca
We had another enjoyable evening of music with Tim Loten performing vocals with guitar and banjo. He demonstrated a fine mastery of picking those strings including a rendition of “Maple Sugar” on guitar. It is likely that was a first for our little hall as it usually hears that tune on a fiddle. Tim’s mix of new and old blues and country provided the audience with some great listening. It is always nice to hear a musician provide background info and give credit to others for the music they play plus give some insight to their original compositions. We wish Tim success as a soloist and band member and in his continued studies in England.
Summerfest in Plevna on Saturday was the place to be with lots of activities to keep the young and not so young engaged. Beautiful weather ensured a great crowd came out to enjoy the day. Thanks to North Frontenac Township for putting this event on and we look forward to next year.
On Tuesday, July 29th, Musicians Circle from 7-10 pm welcomes all genres of music. $2 donation goes towards hall expenses. Play and share music with others. No audience. Call Mike at 613-278-1853 if you have questions.
Don’t forget the upcoming SOS workshop on Tuesday, August 5th with Cheryl Nickerson. Contact Hanne Quiqley at 613-858-8883 to register.
Chuckle for the week: 'A conclusion is the place where you get tired of thinking'.
