Congratulations on the successful Open House at Hartington Kubota.

The street light is still out (still) at White Lake and Rd 38, use caution at that intersection at night!

Turtles are out! Keep an eye out for them on Rd 38!

May 1st marked First Responders Day in Ontario. This day is dedicated to recognizing the brave and selfless contributions of those who risk their lives to protect others.

Since 2013, this day has served as a reminder of the crucial role that first responders play in ensuring our collective safety and well-being. If you come across a first responder, take a moment to thank them for their service. Let's unite as a community and support these everyday heroes who make a difference in our lives.

Shout out to South Frontenac and Central Frontenac road crews who helped pick up all the Pitch In bags from the community clean up!

This week marked the end of an era as the old Campbell homestead on White Lake Road was demolished into a pile of rubble. I look forward to seeing the land evolve with creative new ideas and ownership!

Well done to the performers of the You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown play this past week at Sydenham High School.

April 28th was the #DayOfMourning, where we paid tribute to all workers who have been killed or injured in the workplace. The flags were at half-mast from sunrise to sunset in their memory. Let's take a moment to remember their sacrifice and renew our commitment to safe work practices.

Sympathy to the family of the late Andy Bird.  Andy and his family resided in the red brick house in Parham next to the United Church and loved to come to our church supper.  Thinking of you to Karen, Jody, Anne and Sue and family.

Liz Steele-Drew and all her family would like to thank all who attended, donated, worked, helped, organized and participated in the Volleyball Tournament in honour of her retirement.  It was so great to see former students and teachers as well as family and friends, classmates of her.  Each and every student who had her as a teacher, mentor, coach and counsellor were important to her and she has helped oh so many on their journey of learning.  The proceeds from this event went back into the Education Centre.  If you missed it you missed some amazing volleyball - we have so much talent in our area!  It was a wonderful way to pay tribute to an amazing person.  All the best on your retirement and in this next chapter....enjoy your time!

Thinking of you to Lillian Hartwick.

Don't forget to get your tickets to the Fish Fry that the District #4 Fire Department on May 19th - what a great idea!!!

Sydenham
by Karen Brawley

Wow, Sydenham, we showed the love outside Trousdale’s Foodland last weekend, the Lions Club were selling tickets for their annual $2500 draw which is held on Canada day at The Point in Sydenham. Only 1000 tickets for sale, and it only takes 1 ticket to win. I personally want to thank our local Lions and community for their support, I won it last year.  Our Lions will be roaring again and selling their tickets next weekend at the Verona Foodland, don’t delay and get yours today, sales went exceptionally well.

Saturday night in the country - make your way to the Sydenham Legion on Saturday, May 11th to dance the night away to the tunes of Jeff Code and The Silver Wings, $10 per ticket, available at One Stop and Legion, we expect a sell out crowd, as of last weekend tickets were half sold out.

New Leaf Link is hosting their annual Move-a-thon, they’re an inspirational bunch who come together and groove and move to generate some funding for their program, the smiles can be seen for miles.  Check out their progress or learn more about New Leaf Link by logging onto www.new leaf link.ca/donate.

Let’s help them crush their goal of $6,000 this year.   As the folks at NeLL say.. Grow..Connect..Belong..  New Leaf Link (NeLL) is a rural non-profit organization that champions the abilities and interests of adults with developmental and physical disabilities through programming in arts, healthy living, and community participation.

Wishing all the Mothers a Happy Mothers Day, hope you have a extra special day.

Well we knew it was around the corner - it was more a bendy road with a few bumps, but we made it. Spring is here.
