Start your weekend with the Lions’, “All You Can Eat” breakfast, Saturday at Oso Hall. This month’s donation is for Leader Dogs for the Blind. Don’t forget your plates & other utensils for your feast. I’m told there could be some type of recognition for people who bring their own.

Have you placed your order for the Lions’ Easter Bunnies? Milk, dark, white and sugar free are available. Call Dave at 613-375-6318 to order.

After breakfast, head over to the Olden Hall (Mountain Grove) for an afternoon of music by Albert and Patti and friends. The afternoon begins at 1pm, and feel free to bring sharable refreshments.

There will be an Arden United Church Stewards meeting March 11, at 7pm, at the Church.

There is going to be lots to do the following weekend (St. Pat’s Day weekend).

On Friday, the 15th at the Kennebec Community Centre, the Rec Committee will be hosting their “Adult Game Night”. There will be an assortment of games, but you can bring your own, and maybe meet some new folks. The doors open at 7pm, and the fun starts at 7:30. Refreshments will be available.

Then, on Saturday morning, the Arden United Church will host a St. Patrick’s Day breakfast, 8am to 10:30am. The breakfast will include eggs, ham, Irish potato scones, baked beans, black pudding along with toast & coffee or tea, and a free will donation would be greatly appreciated.

So, you had fun Friday night, ate a hearty breakfast at the church, and then after a brief nap, you can head over to the Legion at 5pm to 7pm for their Saint Patrick’s Day Dinner. The dinner fare is beef stew, shepherd’s pie, coleslaw, rolls and dessert with coffee or tea. The cost of the dinner is $20.00 per adult, $5.00 for kids, with those little ones under 5 eating for free. Tickets are available at the Branch, C4 and the Sharbot Lake Pharmacy.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all. Thinking of you with kind hearts and prayers, Dawn Hansen. Get well soon as we miss your smiling face!!

March came in like a lamb ... will it go out like a lion.

With our mild temperatures comes the reminder, no local bodies of water are safe ice. Even if we have cold temperatures in March, please be mindful of yourself and your pets on our water, it’s not likely as frozen as you think it is.

A friendly reminder, when you’re doing your groceries, if you’re able to pay it forward in any way, our local food bank can always use canned vegetables. They truly appreciate all the community support. It's an ever changing world, every little bit helps.

As everyone is enjoying this weather, the talks of spring and gardens is buzzing around. It’s nice to see that vegetable gardens are starting to grow on people. If you’re planning a garden this year maybe offer to plant something a neighbour or someone who cannot garden could benefit from.

Don’t be green with envy, mark down March 15th on your calendar now, Shamrock’n Dance with DJ and karaoke at the Sydenham Legion, starts at 7 pm, $15 per person, come out and enjoy some smoked beef brisket on a bun and have some fun. Let’s get our shenanigans on. Get your green on and join the fun

Sunday March 17th there will be a St Patty’s Day social downstairs at the Legion, all welcome doors open at 2 pm. Enjoy some green beer and celebrate.
