The demand for parking continues to increase at the Township beaches, boat launches and parking areas. This isn’t just an issue in the summer any longer. We now see the need for more parking in the winter as well, given the interest in Four Season activities. We are pleased to report having expanded the parking area at the Palmerston Lake Beach (Martelock Road), and completing the construction of two new parking areas, one on the Mountain Road just south of the Schooner Road intersection and another on the Mosque Lake Road at winter maintenance limit.

These projects were funded by the Canada Community-Building Fund to the benefit of residents, visitors and local businesses.

We look forward to the additional parking capacity on a year round basis, and a reminder not to park in Turning Basins used for the clearing and / or removal of snow and ice.

Don't forget Festival of Trees is coming up Dec. 1 and 2nd - check out the listing in the news.

Santa Claus is coming to town! District #4 Recreation Committee is hosting their Drive By Santa Parade on Sunday, Dec. 3rd from 1 to 3pm at the Parham Fair Grounds.  This year's event will be interactive so if you want to park your vehicle and walk around the track to visit those floats set up or to get on Bill Lee's wagon and drive around in style that works too! If you are driving around the track - please be aware that there will be walkers, horses and other vehicles - so safety first!  There will be various games set up on the one side of the track with a place to pull over so you can take part in the games and then continue around to the canteen where you will find Santa patiently waiting for you.  Don't forget to bring a donation for the Food Bank, as well as your letters for Santa as we will have a mail box set up - remember to put your return address!!  As well, we are hoping to have our fundraising calendars on sale for you to purchase and we will have a raffle item that you won't want to miss!! So bring some extra cash with you!

Thank you to everyone for coming out to support District #4 Recreation Committee's Christmas in the Country 2023 Vendor Event this past Saturday!  There was something for everyone for sure!!

Sorry to report on the death of Bob Young from Sharbot Lake.  Bob worked many years in at Alcan and was on the Volunteer Firefighter team stationed at Sharbot Lake.  Sympathy to the family as it was just over a month since Brenda his wife had passed.  They are together again.

Parham United Church stuffed shoe boxes full of items for children overseas.  Food bank items are being collected on Dec. 10th  and also their mitten tree is up ready for mitts/hats for hampers for the needy. Hope you can help those causes.

Thinking of our granddaughter/niece Jorja who took a nasty check from opposing team, hit her head and received a concussion and neck strain.  Get well soon and take care.

Sad to say the Old Mill in Parham has been torn down.  Our Great Uncle John Lowery owned (probably built it as well as other homes in this area.

Thinking of Barb Agnew.
