A warm kudos to Dave Burns, our neighbour on Wellington Street in Battersea. Dave was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer earlier this year and has since received compassionate care, support, and empathy from the cancer clinic at KGH and wanted to give back. As a bucket list experience, Dave, along with members of his family, leaped out of a plane last week. Using the jump as a fundraiser, Dave raised an incredible $4,750 for the cancer clinic. On behalf of your friends and neighbours in Battersea, we thank you for such a creative and altruistic act during what is sure to be a very difficult time. Well done, Dave!

Denbigh

The Denbigh and area community really enjoyed the summer event at Heritage Park on Saturday.    The weather was a little wet at times... However, everyone pulled together and made the best of it.    There was great community participation from babies to seniors.    There was a corn roast for everyone, children’s games inside the rink building and later, outside when it quit raining, a farmer’s market and craft vendors, horseshoes, lots of children running around and having a great time, and a lot of social interaction with everyone visiting and enjoying the afternoon.   Thank you to the Denbigh Recreation Committee for organizing a wonderful afternoon, and especially to the community for supporting the event.

The next Denbigh Community Foodbank is Tuesday August 22.   If you are in need, please call 613-333-2224.  The Foodbank is open from 10:15am until 11am. Please call in advance so a box can be prepared for you.

The Denbigh Griffith Lions Club Show and Shine Car Show is Saturday August 26.  It is a fun event with great food and lots of special cars to look at.
