The Kashwakamak Lake Association (KLA) was finally able to gather for the first time in 3 years at Fernleigh Lodge to enjoy the KLA fall dinner and Charity auction on Saturday September 17. The weather cooperated with a beautiful day and blue skies. KLA members and friends bought dinner tickets in advance and enjoyed Melissa Philipps popular “Air Fried Chicken” along with all the fixings.
There was a 50:50 draw, silent auction and rousing live auction with auctioneer Doug Galt. People donated items for the silent and live auctions, and donations for the food pantry.
In total the evening raised $2,203 for the Food Bank, as well as a generous supply of canned and dry goods which are a big help, according to Lois Emond who manages the Food Bank in Cloyne, “We are now getting an average of two new families on every food bank day,” she explained.
Highlights were a quilted cape made by Cathy Galt, a portable propane Barbeque donated by YourWay Home Hardware in Northbrook, and a certificate for 4 wine tastings and a bottle of wine at Potter Settlement Winery in Tweed. The Silent Auction portion alone raised $862.00 with items from Brock Proctor (Helmet, Goggles, ATV cover) helping.
The KLA sends out sincere thanks to everyone who attended to make this a fun-filled successful evening which helped a deserving local organization. It wouldn't have happened without all the people who volunteered and those who donated items for both the Live and Silent Auctions, as well as food and cash for the Food Bank.
