Russell DeCarle is the kind of country music artist who connects as deeply with the Johnny Cash and Hank Williams as he does with Billy Holiday, Django Reinhardt and Bob Wills. The power and poetry of lyrics, melodies that swings and the emotions that are stirred up by the performance have kept him in the music business for over 40 years.
He was a founding member of the 6 time Juno and 6 time Canadian Country Music Association award winning band, Prairie Oyster, and has played with musicians from across Canada since the late 1970’s. He is a musician, singer and songwriter who is bringing some of the music from his long career as well as material from his latest release, “Alone in this Crowd” to the intimate setting of the Snow Road Hall this Saturday Night, starting at 8pm.
“I want people to be emotionally invested in these songs, whether I wrote them or whether they were created by others,” he says. “If they touched audiences in some way — well, that would be the best thing that could happen.”
Tickets to the concert are $20 in advance and $22 at the door. They are available at ticketsplease.ca or by calling 613-284-6434.
For those who can’t make it to Snow Road on Saturday, Decarle will also be performing in Tamworh on June 9 at the Legion Hall, with opening act Logan Murray.
