Re: Funds transfer raises eyebrows at County
Letter Funds transfer raises eyebrows at County, Sep 29/16 Taxpayer eyebrows should be raised with fund transfers from the Kingston/Frontenac renovated program to the K&P Trail. Congratulations to those who voted against this scheme. Shame on non-elected staff for suggesting draining a reserve fund, and elected officials for approving the… READ MORE
Re: Hartington Protest Walk
First of all, I want to thank Frontenac News for covering The Hartington Protest walk, Oct 20/16. As a community we are working hard to fund our fight to protect our vulnerable water supply. This proposed subdivision poses a very real threat to both the quantity and quality of our… READ MORE
Re: Why Canada needs to be wary of President Hillary Clinton
Re: Why Canada needs to be wary of President Hillary Clinton, Frontenac News , Oct 13/16 While most Americans share a communal disappointment with the ethical caliber of this year's American presidential candidates, it seem strange and misplaced that the Frontenac News' Jeff Green would choose Hillary Clinton as a primary… READ MORE
Frontenac County Survey!
If County Staff and Council wants to know what residents think or know about Frontenac County, this survey will not provide many answers. Many potential responders are seasonal property owners and they will not know this survey even exists. Most permanent residents actually have some serious thoughts and opinions but… READ MORE
Re Frontenac County transfer from reserves to K&P Trail
Re Frontenac County transfer from reserves to K&P Trail, (A matter of Trust, Editorial by Jeff Green, Sept 29) Our Frontenac County Council recently did what I see as a travesty of social justice by choosing to take $300,000 from a reserve fund geared at helping low-income residents to remain in… READ MORE
Re: “Can't kick the cat..”
In reference to Edie Cairns’ letter titled "Can’t kick the cat..." (Frontenac News, October 6, 2016), unfortunately I *have* seen people commit this crime, but what I think she is trying to say doesn't really have much to do with the true facts of the situation of life in Ontario.… READ MORE
Mayor Higgins helps nuclear lobby raise electricity rates
Mayor Higgins of North Frontenac, who led the charge against against windmills at the local level in Eastern Ontario, is celebrating the cancellation of wind projects in Ontario. The cancellation is a sign that the nuclear lobby has defeated renewable power in Ontario. Mr. Higgins has his reasons for opposing… READ MORE
Can’t kick the cat, but it’s okay to dump on Hydro One
When I was a young girl, it was not uncommon to hear the expression, “Mad enough to kick the cat!” I never actually saw anyone kick a cat, but saying you might did not land you in jail or court. Those days are long past, so now when we are… READ MORE
Nuclear power prices
According to the Ontario Energy Board, Ontario Power Generation is asking for a large rate increases to pay for refurbishing nuclear reactors. This rate increase is based on the refurbishments happening on time and on budget. Nuclear projects have never been on time or on budget. READ MORE
Scott Reid Survey
While I was reading through Mr. Reid's compulsory survey several things did not seem to make sense. He said that "Politicians want to change what your vote means." It seems to me that the politicians are now catching up to the general public. After all, about 67% of the voters… READ MORE
Somebody Else's Problem
An S.E.P. field is functioning at 100% on Sydenham’s Wheatley St. There were some hiccups last year, but all is well now. Two township recycling bins have been full-to-overflowing since May, in spite of the thousands of times that township staff have passed them. It is especially encouraging that the… READ MORE
Scott Reid referendum on electoral reform
Mr. Reid, you're refusing to hold town hall meetings on electoral reform because you don't want to "validate" an "inadequate" consultation process. Fair enough -- but just holding a referendum (which seems to be your only other idea) appears to be an even less adequate process, with a dismal record… READ MORE
Re: CF schools purchase
Re. Mr Kent Labbett's comments (Re: CF schools purchase, Sept. 15) about a letter by Mr. Wayne Robinson (Re: CF Schools Purchase, Sept. 8) with respect to Central Frontenac's purchase of the school properties. Councillors rarely base decisions on purely short term criteria as many businesses and corporations do, and our… READ MORE
Re: CF Council Purchases Schools
Re: Letter to the editor by Wayne Robinson, Sept. 8, 2016. I am in agreement with Mr. Robinson that the mayor and council care about our community. I also agree they deserve respect, the same respect that we all deserve. However, in my opinion, the problem with the schools still… READ MORE

Re: Solar proposal for Addington Highlands
Re: Addington Highlands Council Meeting, Sep 6/16 by Jonas Bonnetta Despite the fact that industrial wind turbine development was not an issue in the last municipal election, un-elected/acclaimed AH Councillor Cox had no problem voting YES on a motion to support placement of giant industrial wind turbines 550 meters from… READ MORE
