I am writing in response to an article that was placed in July 11th paper about "Canada Day Changes".
I want to let the author of the note know that we would like to have a parade for our Canada Day events in Sydenham Village but we cannot do that without more active volunteers to take on some of the tasks. As it is, we are a Dedicated Committee of "6" who try to do the best we can to make the day enjoyable for others in our community. We put notices up in the paper/online weekly for more volunteers to come out and make it that much bigger. We do have support from local groups such as the South Frontenac Fire, OPP, No So Amateur Amateurs and South Frontenac Township. We decided against the parade for 2024, as 2023 had very low participation and we were stretching ourselves too thin. For 2025, we do have someone that has stepped up and will try to do a parade of some sort but unless we have participation from the community, we can only do what we can do.
