New research shows that concentrations of domestic (or feral) cats can transmit toxoplasma to wild species. Cats are the definitive host for Toxoplasma gondii , a protozoan parasite, which can infect other wildlife species as secondary hosts. Wildlife that has been infected ranges from mice to foxes to bobcats and even dolphins.
