Thanks to heavy rains over the last few weeks, water levels have recovered in regional watersheds.
In the Rideau Valley Watershed, the water levels have recovered to the “Normal” level.
“With above average rainfall amounts across the watershed over the last month, stream flows and water levels have recovered from the previous low water status and are now above average for this time of year,” said a release from Rideau Valley Conservation last week.
In the Cataraqui watershed, the level 2 (moderate) low water condition from late August has been downgraded to Level 1 (minor).
“All monitored stream flows are recovering with only two monitored streams triggering low water thresholds at the end of September. The slow and steady rainfall the region has received is helpful; soaking into the ground to provide sustained stream flow recovery. Additional fall rains will continue to lessen low water impacts.” Said Holly Evans, the Watershed Planning Coordinator with Cataraqui Conservation.
Updates will be issued by the Conservation Authorities as conditions warrant.
