Trio Corventano to Perform at MERA

MERA is please to announce the latest concert of their Blue Jeans Classical music series on Sunday, May 20th at 2:00 pm.  Trio Corventano is a classical music ensemble which features local-born musician, Dakota (Cody) Martin.  As a young performer, Dakota was featured in a number of musical events while he attended school in the Lanark and Perth area.

Now a professional flutist, he is a founding member of the Montreal-based Trio Corventano, along with cellist Thomas Beard and pianist Phil Chiu.  Together, these three talented musicians form a young and energetic ensemble that is passionate about sharing their music with their audiences. 

After a successful 2017 Ontario tour where the trio played concerts in each of their respective hometowns, they are thrilled to be on the road again. The McDonald’s Corners’ concert is one of their musical stops, including performances in Gatineau QC, Markdale ON, and Kincardine ON. 

Though only in their second season performing together as a trio, Dakota, Thomas, and Phil have been friends and colleagues performing together in different combinations for nearly 10 years. All three members of the trio lead varied musical lives performing with different orchestras and chamber music ensembles all over the world but they always enjoy coming together to explore these rarely performed gems of the chamber music repertoire. 

This year, Trio Corventano will be presenting a varied program of works from the early classical trio offerings of Joseph Haydn to the jazz-inspired pieces by Russian composer Nikolai Kapustin.
