The Internet service delivery business in Frontenac County continues to develop in interesting ways. Six weeks ago Barrett Xplore purchased the assets of the bankrupt Omniglobe Corporation, changing the business landscape in the north end of the county.
Now WTC Communications, formerly Westport Telephone, has purchased Ockham Communications.
Ockham was one of the first providers of fixed wireless service to enter the market in South Frontenac, serving the Sydenham, Harrowsmith, Hartington, Verona and Godfrey areas.
In a media release, Steve Lynn, general manager of WTC Communications, said, “Ockham customers will not experience any change or disruption in their service as the result of the takeover. In fact we are hoping that they see a real improvement in the areas of customer service, and access to technical support resources.”
Lynn added that WTC would be focussing on strengthening the existing infrastructure that was being used by Ockham to serve those communities.
