The Canadian Press has reported that Omniglobe Networks filed a notice last week with the office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Canada.
Omniglobe Network has provided fixed wireless Internet service in parts of North and Central Frontenac. The company has received two matching grants under rural broadband funding programs. One is a project that was sponsored by the Limestone District School Board to construct towers at schools, including Land o’ Lakes and Clarendon Central Public Schools. The second was with the Township of North Frontenac. It involved equipment that was installed on the TVO tower north of Cloyne and several repeater towers.
There have been no reports of service disruptions thus far.
The Canadian Press said that according to a source from the Government of Nova Scotia, where Omniglobe has some installations, “The province is aware that Omniglobe is trying to restructure”
Omniglobe was ranked 7th in the Profit Hot 50 list of high growth small companies in Canada in 2009.
